On Saturday September 24, 2011, Pygmalion Music Festival will partner with Polyvinyl Record Co. to present the Polyvinyl Records 15 Year Anniversary OUTSIDE in the heart of downtown Champaign. The all day (and all ages) show will feature 9 Polyvinyl artists from across the world, including one who helped build the Polyvinyl Records name… and happened to be from Champaign… BRAID.
Playing hundreds of shows across the nation over its six year career, Braid signed with Polyvinyl Records when the label was still being run out of a spare bedroom in Danville, IL by newly married co-owners, Darcie and Matt Lunsford. Braid’s final LP, Frame and Canvas, helped to shape the post-punk landscape, inspiring tens of thousands of fans worldwide, and influencing too many bands to count.
“For our 15 year anniversary, we wanted to bring as many Polyvinyl artists to one place as possible,” says Matt Lunsford, co-founder and president of Polyvinyl Records. “And what better place than our home base of Champaign-Urbana, during its keystone annual event, Pygmalion Music Festival. We managed to pack the bill with eight artists, including Braid as the headliner, which is particularly special to Darcie and me… as without them, there wouldn’t be a Polyvinyl!”
